The Mid-Atlantic Club of New York City is one of the region's foremost organizations focusing on international affairs. Formed in 1972, the Mid-Atlantic Club was initially envisaged as a forum for informal discussion of issues involving the Atlantic Alliance. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the Club's focus has broadened to include wider geographic and policy areas although North American-European relations and the European Union remain a key focus of our attention. MAC membership is drawn primarily from the diplomatic, legal, financial, academic, business, and journalism communities. Our speakers represent similar expertise in these fields.
The Mid-Atlantic Club traditionally meets for luncheons in mid-town Manhattan eight times per program year, September to May, where distinguished guest speakers are provided ample time for questions and further discussion with members and guests. The Club also occasionally co- hosts informal gatherings with other academic and policy groups. It enjoys close relationships with many national Consulates General and United Nations Missions in New York City.
MAC is a membership-based, non-profit organization. However, guests and non-members may attend MAC luncheons for a fee, space permitting.
The President of Mid-Atlantic Club of New York City is Richard R. Valcourt, designated in 2006 as a Distinguished Senior Scholar in the field of intelligence and national security by the International Studies Association. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence and Consulting Professor of Intelligence at the American Military University.
